I want to make a stew or casserole and i have a great recipe for one in a slow cooker. Only problem is i dont have a slow cooker. I have an electric skillet, a frypan that sits on the stove and every size saucepan. Can i use any of these instead?

I’ve used a dutch oven before as a “slow cooker”.
You should really invest in a slow cooker. They are amazing. Life changing! I use mine all the time. Not too expensive either. You should check out overstock.com.
If you can adjust your heat lower than 300 degrees then you can use an electric skillet, as long as it has a tight fitting lid, a Dutch oven will also work. These substitutes still cannot truly duplicate a slow cooker / crock pot. I strongly urge you to pick on up, they are a VERY handy item and definitely worth the money. As mentioned, if you try a pan or pot on the stove, you will have to be watchful for scorching.
You can use a saucepan, but even if you use it on low heat, you will have to stir frequently to prevent scorching. Also, the timing will be different.
Good luck!
The easiest solution is use a saucepan that has a lid that can go into the oven, or you could do it on the stove but watch it doesn’t burn on the bottom, very low heat.
