Quick! My Roommate Left The Gas Stove On All Day. How Long Should I Air Out The Apartment?

Build Your Own Wood Burning Pizza Oven

I got home about 20 minutes ago to discover an apartment full of gas. I checked the burners and realized that my roommate left one of the burners slightly on. The house has been filling with gas for at least the past six hours (at least!). I opened all of the windows and doors, and I’m sitting outside right now waiting for the gas to dissipate. I just checked, and it still smells! I live in a small apartment — how long do you think it will take until it’s safe to go inside? Also — I’m not very experienced with gas stoves — shouldn’t there be a safety feature of some sort to prevent this sort of thing? Thanks in advance!

  1. first turn on a fan so it would help air out the apartment.second call the fire dept., don’t light anything near your apartment…….the gas might make some kind of explosion

  2. The gas should be gone, the smell lingers a bit longer. There is a safety for this it is called and Intelligent and Responsible Adult.

  3. personally to be safe, i wouldnt sleep in it tonight. You wanna be on the safe side! open doors and windows.
