I’ve been looking at a bunch of Hungarian dessert recipes that need to be baked in the oven. I was shocked that most of them just said “bake in a hot oven until golden” instead of indicating an actual oven temperature. Can the oven temperature be set on Hungarian ovens?

On new ones? Sure. On the little dinky things that many people still have, which run on bottled gas and light with a match or sparker? No, not really, no. The best you can do on those is “high, medium, low”. Baking can be an adventure!
Try calibrating your own oven sometime…….it’s probably way off anyway! Just bake at 350……and keep an eye on the goods
