   Check out the May 2007 Consumer Reports they just did a huge article on the most reliable and least reliable brands of kitchen appliances. Readers rated them for reliability and repairs. Looks like Amana & Whirlpool are the best for dishwashers, GE, Kenmore & Whirlpool for fridges, Wall oven Frigidaire, GE, Kenmore Maytag and Whirlpool. The high end dacor, Jenn-Air Thermacdor, Sub zero Viking were among the most repair prone.

   Go to Sur La Table. They have nice things.

   If you want higher quality, but still affordable, go for Bosch, Jenn-Air, and Sub-Zero.
