Just simply turn off the main valve at the back of your gas range if you wantto turn it off but the problem is you cannot cook until you turn it back on again.
Turning the pilot light OFF is not recomended since that line was blowing a gas in order the pilot light stays lit otherwise you can smell gas in your house or apartment and can cause a fire/explotion once the gas was build up
the oven pilot valve should be under the burner cover . but if you turn off the other valve you should shut off the main valve to the stove. and the gas well be off for good on the stove
