I Havent Got Any Friends In The Home And Garden Section, So I Need To Ask You Lot On Here…?
Im looking to buy a property in Cliftonville in Margate and notice on rightmove that loads of the properties seem to have electric heating. I like gas and cannot stand an electric cooker. If i get somewhere, can I have gas put in? Is there some reason why loads of the properties down there seem to have only electricity,,,, is it likely that some apartment blocks arent connect to gas in this day and age?
thanks

I bought a house without mains gas just over 2 years ago . The first thing you do is ring up Trsansco and they tell you if there is a pipeline in your road . If there is it costs about £ 500 to connect a normal residential property .
You have to draw a plan of your house though and show any other mains water . Don’t let that phase you though cos I did it and I cannot stress how utterly diabolical my plan was !
The Transco man had to dig so hard through our clay he had a diabetic hypo and he ate all our jam doughnuts….what a scam !
It may be that the properties you’ve seen have electric heating because they are let to holiday makers. But I would make sure before committing myself that gas is available.
Try slightly further along the coast in Kingsgate. Nice houses, nice area, nice beaches and nice gas supply.
you can always use bottled gas.
I dont know about Maragte but i do know there are still a lot of areas that are not connected to a mains gas supply.
So it is possible
There are still a few rural areas that do not have a gas supply, though most small towns do. You would need to check with British Gas.
ask the local council
