I Have Just Received My Gas And Electric Bill From Scottish Power,?
And it has gone up from march, over a thousand pounds, I live in a small 2 bedroom house, i hardly have the heating on, but there saying i have used more gas, i do not have a gas cooker, all i have is my boiler, the only thing i have on quite a lot is my tower fan because of this hot weather, I had a electrician come out at christmas to install my cooker, and he said a lot of the wiring i have is quite old fashioned, could this have influenced my bill?

Neither your wiring nor your tower fan have anything to do with your gas consumption. Go and read your meters and compare them with what Scottish Power claim. Read the last bill too.
I’m dreading getting my next bill in – meter was read last week. I also live in a small 2 bedroomed house and already pay £142.50 p.m. direct debit. Also don’t have a gas cooker – use microwave oven 99% of the time. I asked the meter reader when we were going to get a reduction in our bills cos the wholesale price of fuel has come down, but of course he said he didn’t know. I constantly argue with my other half cos he takes baths and I use shower – I’m sure baths are more expensive than showers. I’d suggest you don’t use the tower fan, just open all your windows. Might save a little bit.
Are Scottish Power working from actual meter readings or estimated readings? Check your bill very carefully. If they have used estimated readings for this bill, then take actual readings and telephone them and tell them. If the previous reading(s) were estimated, then it may be a case of “catch up”.
quite simply no
