How To Cook Rice?

Build Your Own Wood Burning Pizza Oven

in the kampung we plant rice, harvest rice and prepare rice in a good old “periuk nasi”, over a fire or if available, over a gas fire. When I buy rice it comes with ‘cooking instructions’: wash rice, put in ELECTRIC RICE COOKER, switch on cooker and let cook. Does it mean I cannot cook the rice I buy from the shop in a regular pot, over a ‘normal’ fire???

  1. Just buy the pre-cooked one, put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and enjoy….no dishes, no sticky rice, no hard rice – as easy as it gets!

  2. Ask mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, girlfriend, wife…..lol.

Hehehe – just remember this. In USA, you cook rice with 2 cups water to 1 cup rice. In Taiwan you cook 1 1/2 cups water to 1 cup rice. In Philippines it’s 1 to 1, and then it’s hard enough so they eat it with their hands. ☺
By normal fire do you mean Charcoal, or gas? Hehe
