How Do I Go About Seeing Europe By Car – A Family Of 4, On A Shoestring Budget?
My itenary starts with Vatican, Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Innsbruck, Wattens, Vaduz, Lungern, Lucerne, Interlaken, Gstaad, Chamonix, Geneva, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and London.
The four will be my wife and I ( 52 & 48) son (22) and daughter (17).
How expensive is gasoline and approximstely, what will be the Toll charges.
Are there reasonably priced Hotel rooms to accomodate the family of 4 in the above cities.
Can I cook my Dinner in the Hotel room using just an electric Rice cooker.
How strict are the traffic rules. Will I keep getting fined everywhere for wrong parking or breaking rules unknowingly.

That is quite an itenerary! How long will you be in Europe? Most of the cities you mention are not very easy to drive in and I don’t recommend doing so. It is cheaper and best to stay out of the big cities, like Rome, Florence, Brussels, Paris, etc. and do day trip visits by train or underground. If you don’t have at least a month or two to travel I think you are trying to see too much at one time. Cooking in the room isn’t a good choice unless you are renting an apartment. The price of gas and tolls will be what they are, no way to save there, just bite the bullet, the travel is worth it. Any good guide book will provide you with traffic rules in the particular country and it is wise to go over them. Don’t leave anything in your car at night and don’t lose your car by parking somewhere in a city and than walking off to get totally lost in the winding narrow streets. Take notes and a digital camera photo of the area where you park. Lots of good sensible advice in the Guide at the site source below.
google that **** fool!
Congratulations and my very best wishes for a successful tour. It was good to read what you said and wish to do. Europe is very expensive and Britain even more so. In the old days England was cheap but no longer now. Suggestions: YMCA, Youth Hostels as possible stopover. Must get Michellin (excuse spelling but then we are not having a spelling test here, right?!) Road Book. It gives great information on accommodation, restaurants etc etc. As for strict traffic rules, unheard of in the west. Everyone obeys the law and there is no need to be strict! Follow road signs, parking signs and adhere to their rules and regulations, nothing will then go wrong. No hard earned foreign exchange squandered on fines and penalties! I hope you are a good driver, then you must be to mount the kind of challenge you are. Driving slowly when you should not be can be a danger to yourself and other road users. So again keep an eye on speeds recommended. Women are very pretty so keep an eye on the road and not on the skirt. You cannot and will not cook rice in your hotel room. Hey brother you are carrying my national flag, make sure you wear it proudly. I know you will. Anyway very good luck, have fun and take care.
