I LOVE RICE. Let me just say that.
However, I have recently had to go without rice since I moved into a new place and no longer have a rice cooker. I’m afraid that since my stove is electric, that I might not be able to cook rice on it?
Any suggestions are appreciated!

If you want a quick way to cook rice you can microwave it (using a large microwave safe bowl of course). Just use double the amount of water than rice (plus whatever seasonings you prefer). For example: For one cup uncooked dry rice you would use two cups of water (yielding two cups cooked rice). I usually add just a tiny bit more water though because microwaving rice tends to dry it out more than cooking it any other way. Cooking times vary depending on how much rice you are cooking. For what I mentioned above I start cooking it for 10 minutes and then cook it in 5 minute intervals checking it until its done; usually takes about 17-20 minutes.

Not only can rice be cooked in a rice cooker, but also on the stovetop, whether it be gas or electric. All you need to do is find a pot or saucepan, half to three quarters fill it with COLD water. Then add the rice and put it on the stovetop, allowing it to come to the boil. Once the rice is cooked drain it through a colander or sieve and you are done.
Rinse the rice in cold water until it runs clear (Asian rice).
Do not rinse American rice because it is fortified and you will lose the added vitamins and mineral coating on the rice grains.
Place the rice in any pot and add water until the water level is about 1/4 inch above the rice.
Rice is cooked by the steam not by boiling, so cover the pot.
For an electric stove, heat on High or Medium high until the water starts a rolling boil, then quickly turn the heat down to Low.
Do not remove the lid or stir the rice at all during the cooking process.. Continue to cook until the water is gone and the rice is firm and fluffy. It should not be watery or sticky.
There should be several little steam holes in the rice when it is done. If there are steam holes, the rice has been cooked properly. Remove from the stove and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then remove the lid and fluff the rice with chop sticks or a fork. Mmmmm….
American rice is somewhat starchy and bland. For a real treat, try some Jasmine rice imported from Thailand. It has a wonderful aroma and flavor. After eating Jasmine rice, you will never go back to regular rice. You can get it at any Asian grocery store. Some American grocers are starting to carry it. If the Jasmine rice says “fortified”, do not buy it because the processing ruins the natural flavor. Good brands of Thai Jasmine rice are Elephant Brand, Imperial Brand, or Royal Dragon Brand.

You add rice and liquid into small pot and bring to a boil and cook according to package directions.
It all depends on the kind of rice. There should be stove top directions on some of the packets. But you should be able to cook it on the stove.
use a pot put hot water equal to half of how much rice. 1/2 tbspoon of butter and boil. add rice cook till tender drain and there yah go. my stoves electric also. hope this helps
well my mom just uses a pot and puts the rice in their but our stove is on gas!
