Domestic & General Insurance Query?
Ok does anyknow know…
I have Insurance cover on my electric oven… I telephoned Domestic & General when it went wrong at the end of July this year. Following, a cooker repair man came on the 3rd August, 4 hours late and absolutely stunk of drink. Said he would put an order in for parts. Heard nothing. Two weeks later, I heard from his office who said that he didn’t write down a model or serial number so they were having difficulties getting parts! I had tried getting hold of them several times after this but nothing. So I telephoned the insurers 7 days ago and complained.
I have just heard today that they are going to replace my oven but at a great cost to me.. They want me to pay delivery and the rest of the year left outstanding on this new plan, (until august 2008) I tried to argue this am but they said that because my oven has only just been ‘written off’ I have to pay up on the new plan which is so much more expensive than my last . Is this right, can they do this?

They are trying it on. Do not pay for new insurance unless you want it. Paying delivery charges is something else again. Read your policy document if it says you have to pay charges under certain circumstances then you might have to. If you are not sure whether your policy does allow them to charge for delivery go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and ask their opinion.
no way, you dont have to pay, and you shouldn’t. keep complaining, they will back down eventually. even if it takes a while, keep on at them.
